Allah has blessed this nation of ours with the divine institution of Jum'uah which in reality is a monumental avenue for change; it's the absolute biggest conference in the world! This avenue, if used effectively, can do wonders for the city of Toronto and its people. Just imagine a city, in which exemplary khateebs provided life-changing khutbas every single week that truly motivated you to action. What kind of impact would that have on our city?
As Muslims living in the city of Toronto, we are constantly struggling to achieve a balance. We're confronted with many challenges on a day to day basis that distort that balance, for which we turn to our scholars, imams and khateebs for solutions.
Every single Friday, hundreds of thousands of Muslims leave off their worldly responsibilities in efforts to attain advice, which will aid them in their life journeys. However, unfortunately a large portion of the population consistently leave the congregation with little to no benefit. Week after week we hear the same comments: "What was the khateeb talking about?", "how does that relate to me?", "why can't khateebs talk about real issues?", "I wish the khateeb could better communicate his message", etc.
In a recent survey addressing the quality of khutbas across the GTA, approximately 42% felt khateebs are short in providing practical and actionable advice; 45% felt that khateebs are lacking knowledge to address current issues; and 55% felt khateebs are lacking in the ability to communicate their message effectively.
To combat this issue and actualize the above vision,
KHATEEBtrainer is a project which aims to equip current and future khateebs with skills and resources to bring maximum benefit to their respective congregations.
To get this project going we're asking for your support. If you're an attendee, imam, khateeb, youth activist, or aspiring to become one in the future, you need to join this effort! Simply do the following:
1) Like us on
Facebook and/or follow us on
Twitter to keep yourself up to date with the project
2) Fill out the survey (

Web) and share your thoughts on the quality of khutbhas
3) Share with your family and friends!
Exemplary people make history. Be exemplary.
