With our hugely successful 1st Walkathon, to raise funds for Credit Valley Hospital (collecting $50,000), ICNA Canada (Peel Chapter) and Mississauga Muslim Community are pleased to announce our 2nd annual charity Family Day Walkathon for Credit Valley Hospital, Mississauga, on Ontario Family Day weekend, Monday February 20, 2012.
The event will take place at City Centre Mississauga (300 City Centre Dr., near Square One). First part of the program will be a walkathon, around the City Hall, starting at 10:00 am and second part, inside the City Hall, from 11:00am to 12:00 pm, with short presentations by children and dignitaries focusing on family values.
The purpose of the walkathon, besides raising funds for the charity, is to raise awareness of the unfortunate
deteriorating situation of our family structure because of factors such as high rate of divorce, single parents raising children, domestic violence, teenage pregnancies, youth gangs and youth on drugs, and so on.
These challenges are not faced by one but all communities living in our diverse and culturally rich society; therefore we all need to stand and work together, regardless of race, gender, culture, color, or creed, to maintain a healthy environment for our families.
While emphasizing importance of family life in general, each year has a unique theme focusing on a particular aspect of our family life. This year’s program them is ‘Our Seniors’. While speakers will talk about respecting our seniors and responsibilities and their role in the family and society at large, we will also recognize and honour our seniors.
The Family Day Walkathon is endorsed by The Credit Valley Hospital Foundation for raising funds for its
Lifetime of Care - $45 million campaign.
Please come with your whole family to walk for a noble cause to help our communities get better medical
treatment, to raise awareness of strengthening our families, and providing our children an affectionate
environment where they can grow with their full potential to make a peaceful, secure, and prosperous
society.
