" Through these benefit concerts, Islamic Relief Canada® hopes to open the eyes of our community – to show them that the children worldwide and even right here at home in Canada need our help. We don’t want to just list the facts and figures and guilt the community into giving, rather, through this family friendly concert series we hope to bring the community together and inspire them.

Islamic Relief Canada® Set to Raise $500,000 for Orphans and Children In-Need Worldwide
Toronto, ON – January 26, 2011 – This February Islamic Relief Canada® hopes Canadians will open their hearts and help raise much needed funds to help orphans and children in-need. In addition to raising funds, Islamic Relief Canada® aims to raise awareness about the global status of orphans and children at risk, as well as the programs offered to address their needs in a compassionate and dignified manner.
With global stats indicating that there are 143 million orphaned children worldwide and nearly 70 million children who cannot attend school due to poverty, discrimination, or a lack of resources, the plight of the world’s children is dire.
Through these benefit concerts, Islamic Relief Canada® hopes “to open the eyes of our community – to show them that the children worldwide and even right here at home in Canada need our help,” says CEO Sallah Hamdani. He further explains, “we don’t want to just list the facts and figures and guilt the community into giving, rather, through this family friendly concert series we hope to bring the community together and inspire them, by showing them what we are capable of accomplishing when we work together.”
The 3-city concert series will feature multi-platinum singer, songwriter and producer Maher Zain, a mega sensation in the modern Islamic music scene, who is a long time supporter of Islamic Relief. Along side Maher Zain, local Canadian artists, Irfan Makki and, upcoming artist, Moez Melon and Comedian Waseem Mo’Money will also perform.
In fact, Canadian artist Moez Melon, “feel[s] privileged to be involved, not only in organizing the event, but also performing, as it serves as a reminder of those who don't have the many options we do, especially orphans and children. It’s an honour to promote such a worthy cause and relay meaningful Islamic music while doing so.”
