Lighting Fires: Commemorating the Quebec Mosque Massacre

Event Description

An evening of poetry, community, reflection and fundraising to mark the 1 year anniversary of the Quebec Mosque Massacre. On January 29th, 2017, six Muslims were murdered while praying, for praying: Azzeddine Soufiane, Mamadou Tanou Barry, Khaled Belkacemi, Aboubaker Thabti, Ibrahima Barry and Abdelkrim Hassane. On January 28th, we gather to remember, to grieve and to rage, and to commit to ending state sponsored Islamophobia.

$5-$50 – All proceeds to go to Aymen Derbali, who helped save many on the day of the Quebec shooting and is now paralyzed and needs an accessible home.

Everyone invited. No one turned away for lack of funds.
